The average golfer has a myriad of questions about training for golf swing and how to develop the correct golf swing. An area that is currently presenting more and more questions from the average golfer centers upon golf fitness training.
Questions such as; what are good flexibility training for golf exercises and how can weight training for golf swing exercises help me drive the golf ball further?
Well, you could argue that there is a correlation between increased driving distance and golf fitness exercises. Let’s see how…
Driving distance is contingent upon club head speed. The faster the club head is travelling at impact with the golf ball…the further the ball will travel.
Club head speed is contingent upon two factors.
The first factor is golf swing mechanics. Swing mechanics centers upon physics and the coiling and uncoiling of the body during the golf swing. Therefore, a greater amount of energy can be developed and transferred to the golf ball if the average golfer can increase the efficiency of his swing mechanics. This will, in turn, improve driving distance.
Secondly, driving distance is contingent upon the body’s ability to produce power. Power is the ability of the body to generate a large amount of force in a short amount of time. Therefore, club head speed will increase by increasing the body’s ability to generate more power while maintaining good swing mechanics.
How does weight training for golf swing exercise help?
Training for golf swing exercises develop the required strength, endurance, flexibility, balance and power within the body for the golf swing. Training for golf exercises will also “unlock” tight shoulders, hips, and lower back which allows the body to execute the biomechanics of the golf swing correctly so we can ultimately improve swing efficiency.
